We contracted with Raffi to paint a 9 family building in Berlin, NH. He agreed to start as soon as we gave him a 50% deposit. On that day, he began pressure cleaning to strip paint from the building. After 4 hours ge said his wife had a doctor appointment and left. Despite my messages, and calls, we didn't see Raffi back for two weeks. The roofing contractor who knows him contacted Raffi on our behalf, and Raffi came back for 5 hours of pressure cleaning. It has been 3 weeks since we paid him 50% and he has 9 hours of pressure cleaning done. His contract was for pressure cleaning, scraping, caulking, re-nailing clapboard, priming, 2 coats of paint, and clean up the paint chips. He has been a no-show even on the days he has promised he'd be there. Today, after FINALLY reaching Raffi, he told me he would give my money back when he has it, and hung up on me. After calling him back, he threatened to call the state because of the lead paint chips that are all over the ground, from his pressure cleaning. He also threatened to sue me before hanging up. We are running out of nice weather and now we are scrambling to find a painting contractor. None are available on such short notice. Raffi took our money and left a mess, and we must now litigate to recover our money. Find a reputable painting contractor. Beware of fast talking Raffi! Mike Gilbert
